Installation Instructions

  1. Download the latest version of the McAfee antivirus software to your desktop from the Download Center on the right.
    • If the Virex disk does not show up on your desktop, double click the file VirusScan8.5.dmg.
    • If you have a PowerPC processor, certain components will not work properly. You can download an older version on the right.
  2. When the disk mounts, then double click VirusScan.pkg.
    • If a message pops up asking if you want to continue, click Continue.
  3. Click Continue when the release notes dialogue appears.
  4. Click Continue, then Agree to accept the license agreement.
  5. Select the hard drive you wish to install McAfee on, then click Continue.
  6. Select Easy Install, then click Install.
    • If prompted for your username and password, enter them and click OK.
  7. When asked to configure the On Access Scanner, select Read or Write, then click Continue.
  8. When the installation is complete click OK.
    • If prompted to restart your computer, click Restart.
